UFO Finish

I found a bag full of UFO's that I forgot I had last night and decided I would work on a couple this weekend. Today DH has had to work all day and I have been at home all day and managed to finish this one. It's great to have a substantial finish done. The fabric is luminescent but you cannot see it very well.

Here is my progress on my first 3 Crazies, the first one is the Gazette House, the second one I have actually finished and is ready to be made into a Christmas Tree Decoration, and the third one is the Pagoda biscornu which I am loving stitching and cannot wait to complete.

These will not be completed until next month as I need to go and buy some stuffing as I have run out and I need to go and buy some backing fabrics.

New Years PJ Party down the Pub

It all started off so well ................ except for the banana in pyjamas!!

In this photo is my hubby with the banana, his sister and her fiance, who apparently enjoyed shopping for ladies PJs!!

Here they are with me in my purple ensemble including a purple wig!!

The band,who later played in their underwear as we raised over £200 for mencap.

Our wonderful landladies, they are sisters and twins.

I dont think I need to explain this one - he fancied a go in my wig

and unfortunately his rather suited me too!!

My New Year January Give Away

I have many items in my stash that I do not need anymore as I have stitched them already or I have duplicates of them or I bought the pattern and don't like it anymore.

This Give Away will run for the whole of January.

I recently took part in Lainey's Winter Wonderland Exchange and above you can see what Lesleyanne sent to me, it was a great package to receive the ornie is just lovely, a fabulous diary, two lovely charts and a simply gorgeous Christmas decoration, some lovely fabrics, ribbon and braid.

Below you can see what I sent Christina and it arrived safely.

This was the little ornie I made her, it is one of Kel Smurthwaites.

I also sent her some silk threads which she has never stitched with before, so nice to introduce people to new ways of spending their money lololol

I also found the below and it was such a bargain so it just had to go in the package. I do hope Christina has time to sit and have a nice hot drink and some treats with this over Christmas.

Then I found some fantastic fabrics - so lovely were they that I had to buy some for me too!!!

I also bought her the Stitcher Tree pattern - it is also part of my Crazies for 2012.

Some 40ct fabric I have so fallen in love with 40ct.

I won the cook off again with my Chocolate Trifle

and here it is in all it's glory. It is not your usual traditional trifle but a very rich and delicious chocolate trifle.

It has chocolate brownies as it's base, soaked in cherry brandy, then morello cherries that have been soaked in cherry brandy. Then a gorgeous homemade chocolate custard with 2 and half bars of 70% dark chocolate melted into it and then topped with double cream and chocolate stars which I cut out of melted chocolate and some toasted almonds.

Dear Friends/Visitors/Stitching Addicts

I just have to say a big thank you to each and every visitor to my blog during this last year, for coming and sharing my stitchy world and for encouraging me and complimenting my pieces. It is so wonderful to be brought together with people from all around the world and to have so many wonderful 'internet' friends.

As many of you will know I am not religious, but my wish to you all is some peace and tranquility over the festive period, some lovely memories, some special times with friends/family/loved ones, time to recharge your flat batteries, some rest, some stitchy time, laughter, even healing tears if needed.

I am posting this message now as I am not sure how much time I will have between now and Santa popping down our chimneys to enter blogsville (yes I know at 48 I should know better, but hey ever the child)

Tralala Finish

Well it has been a dreadful 2 weeks suffering with a nasty chest infection, cold and cough, thankfully it is just about over but I dont feel 100% yet, but much better than I have been.

I have managed to get some stitches in and have finished my Tralala Petit Maison.

This was a lovely quick stitch and I used DMC 94 (Green) and DMC 99 (Red) variegated threads.

Me and hubby have been sitting around all day wallowing in our germs and runny noses, sore throats and my chest infection. I can poke up with all that (we have actually sat and relaxed and dozed in between films) but what makes me so cross is that I have this damned infernal cough ..........................I cannot tell you how many pairs of knickers I have washed this week!!! Then there are the times when I manage to cough and not piddle myself .................... only to bloody sneeze and do it!!!

I hope this has given you a chuckle.

Part 8 iStitch SAL

I finished Part 8 of the SAL by Carol. this has been such a delightful piece to finish and I will be attempting to make it into something but probably not until after Christmas.

My stitching Mojo is a little illusive right now. My Yahoo account got hacked, so I have been sorting all my passwords out and all seems ok now. I am too pooped in the evenings to stitch, fortunately all the pieces for my exchanges are done, I just have to have a weekend of finishings and get them all in the post. Perhaps that will kick my mojo into gear.

I have been collecting the patterns all year and there is just Nov and Dec to go, I might just add these to my Crazies I have always wanted to do calendar and I think this would just look lovely all stitched up together. I wouldnt put them on the same coloured backgrounds just put them all on white or cream 40ct linen and I would count it as one design not 12 lololol.

Weightloss and thank you

2 stone 6lbs lighter (34lbs) and 2 dress sizes smaller ....................... I am a very happy bunny and very proud of myself!!! I went to the clinic in London today to have my first fill on my gastric band. It was a little uncomfortable but over in about 2 minutes, a small price to pay for how successful this is working. They are really happy with me and very impressed with my progress, positive attitude and determination.

I am on my way to thinner future and feeling very good.

My daughter works in Covent Garden as a floor manager in H&M, so we met for lunch, she had fish and chips and I had mushroom soup; I didnt manage to eat it all and didnt touch the delicious looking olive bread that it came with!!

I just want to thank all of you who are encouraging me and giving me lots of lovely friendly, positive, kind and supportive words of encouragement and for just being interested.

I have started and finished these two this last week. I used threads I had and not the specified ones as I didnt have time to order and wait for threads to come. I cannot say what these are for or where they are going but all will be revealed sometime in the near future.

The first one above is LK Friends, I think this is the second time I have stitched this piece it really is nice and quick, I have added beads too but they didnt sparkle much in the light this morning, it's still dark at 6.15am!!

The piece above is by LHN Baked Goods. This one was given to me by a friend and I am going to Pay It Forward with the LK Friends are like Angels pattern too.

I took part in a Needlebook Exchange on my Friendly Stitchers Yahoo group and my partner has now recevied her needlebook from me. I actually used a Biscornu pattern #551 from The Floss Box. This is my first ever Needlebook and I think it didnt turn out too badly.

and then inside I just used more of the linen for the needles and had some lovely quilting fabric in my stash that I knew would come in handy one day.

This is Jan's Needlebook to me, I just love the colours and it was her first needlebook too.

On the back she personalised it with my intitials, a lovely idea.

Inside wee the dinkiest needles I have ever seen so tiny, I will have to look after these ones, I do have a habit of dropping them!!

Above is my progress with the Christmas Quadrangle I am doing a SAL with Viv, we will be meeting up to look at finishing and progress and to at long last see each other. It will be so nice.

Above is LK Boo Club, I have really loved stitching this one and it seems to grow quickly without me realising.

Halloween Rules is coming along too and this one is even more fun to stitch, but once they are both done I will be ready to stitch something different, but I do love them.

3 weeks down and 2 stone off

Amazing and I have not suffered with hunger. I cannot eat large amounts and can only eat about a handful of food and I am satisfied. I just have to make sure that what I eat is very healthy and I even managed to have a G & T and a glass of red wine this weekend (special occasion and not something that will become regular) but it was nice to have a drink and still lose.

I am eating softer food now and manage to eat some Lasagne that I made for a cook off at the pub (I came joint second). It was so nice to have different textures and flavours. I just have to make sure that I chew things very well. Bob took me out for breakfast to a lovely little tea shop in Alfriston called Badgers Tea House and I had scrambled eggs, they were delicious and just a small portion which Bob had to eat 1/3rd of!!

Today for work I am wearing a skirt that I have not worn for 2-3 years and it is loose - I am just amazed.

Due to recovering from my operation, I just lost my mojo for a couple of weeks, but last night picked up myneedles as the SAL Part 3 from Carol at istitch was in my inbox, fingers crossed I can catch up now and getPart 4 & 5. This is such a delightful SAL and I am thinking of doing a second one in a variegated thread.

Above is my new purchase from Traditional Stitches it was over 50% off and the last one they had, I just couldnt resist this, so I treated myself, as you do!!

I had a little operation

Dear readers

Now that my operation is over and I am now over a week with my new friend, I am ready to share with you all what I have had done. I have had a Gastric Band fitted. I have yoyo'd all my life with my weight, lost 7 stone many years ago but put it all back on plus alot more. I also now have PCOS (Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome) and can lose 2-3 stone and then hit a brick wall and it just will not come off.

It has taken me 10 years to make the decision of having a Gastric Band fitted and now was the time for me. I am over the moon with it, though recovery was not nice in the first 3 days as anaesthesia and I do not mix too well. It took me about a week to feel back to normal and I just dont feel hungry very often and liquids are enough for me right now. Next weekend I can go onto thicker pureed foods and the week after that start eating more normal foods, but of course much smaller portions.

I will let you know how the weight loss is going, but from my pre op week to now I have lost a 1 stone 8lbs and I am a very happy bunny.

A WIP and a Finish

Had a little bit more progress on this one but not much as I am working on some small project, but cannot show any of them as they are for exchanges...............so you will have to wait and see later this year!!

Above is the piece I am going to finish into a cube for a Breast Cancer Day we are having in October at work, this will be a raffle prize. (Have just realised it isnt finished, there is a heart I need to stitch still.....oh well watch this space LOL!!)

............how did that happen again!! Oh well, the first picture is a Pagoda Biscornu which I have bought from Timber Creek Needlework Designs I am going to do this in different colours though for Autumn/Fall.

The eight squares next to this are Biscornu patterns I have bought from The Floss Box I am stitching one as we speak but cannot say which as it may be part of an exchange!!

The Lizzie Kate Peace Love and a Cure is almost fully stitched but I won't take a photo until it is, we are having a Breast Cancer Charity Day at work and I am stitching this to go in the Raffle, I am going to finish it into a Cube.

Off to do some Halloween stitching now as I have not done any for a few nights.

Another one completed I just have to finish it properly but it wont be done for a little while as I have lots of stitching I need to be getting on with. This one stitched up really nice, but I didnt realise it would be so big, I think it would be lovely stitched over 1 too.

Hot Chocolate Fun

I had fun with my hot chocolate piece last night, stitches up really nicely, but it will be too big for an ornie, so I might make it into a hanging pin keep or just frame it to hang on the wall in the kitchen, we will see.

Hopefully I will have it finished by the weekend and I can get back to my Halloween pieces.
I wouldn't mind some liquid heaven myself tonight!!

I daren't admit it............a small new start

It really is only an ikkle start on a very ikkle piece really!!! I just needed something different to stitch on inbetween my LK pieces and this one called to me. It's by Kincavel Crosses and is a freebie if you click the link it will take you to the full pattern and you can see what it will look like.

I am going to finish it into an ornie for the Christmas tree, I feel I need to start doing some winter stitching or I won't finish anything in time to use it for Christmas.

Halloween Updates

I have been concentrating on my Halloween Pieces this week and really want to get going on these as there are so many other things I want to stitch, and I wouldnt mind getting something Christmasy done too.

The first one is Halloween Boo Club I managed to finish the first piece and get the buttons on and have started the second and got the button on that too. These are such fun to stitch.

I just love this Halloween Rules again great fun to stitch, piccies look a bit dark as I took the photos when the sun was still rising.

New SAL started

Yes I have started a new SAL, Carol at istitch has designed a mystery SAL and we have received the first part, I have some of it started as you can see below and am stitching for the first time ever on 40ct fabric, it is Newcastle Linen in Antique White and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

The thread I received in an exchange (I cannot remember who from as I didnt put there name on my photos but it was a lovely lady from my Yahoo Group Friendly Stitchers for a Secret Santa a few moons ago) it is The Threadgather Silk N Colors Pure Silk in Christmas Pines.

Thank you Carol for this lovely SAL, I am going to hopefully complete the rest of Part 1 before Part 2 is out on the 27th August.

LK Halloween update

Have an update on my two LK Halloween Pieces, the first one is Boo Club Double Flips, which I started doing the border and thought it was the one for Halloween Rules lololol. So decided to do both!!

This is the one I should have started Halloween Rules, we dont really celebrate Halloween in the UK like the do over the pond in the USA, but I love the cross stitch pieces and thought I had better get a couple done ready for when I have grand children (well that's my excuse!!)

Holiday Give Away from Cr4ftym00

Before I went away I said that when I came back from my holidays I would have a Give Away. Well here it is, below you can see some Tartan ribbon, Highland Bliss Handmade Chocolate, Western Isles notecards with beautiful scenes on them, Highland Cow Keyring and matching pencil and so that there was something stitchy related I have added a large piece of 28ct Lugana 18 x 26 in Rock Quarry, a lovely soft pale mocha colour.

The rules are:

Long over due catch up

I won 28ct Platinum Evenweave 7x9 piece, it is a lovely colour and I have just the thing to stitch on this LK Housework!!

Whilst on holiday I did something so funny, I got in such a muddle. I am part of the SAL on the LK Lovers Blog

and there is a choice of two things to stitch and I chose to do the Halloween piece - and took what I thought to be the correct border away with me on holiday to get it started - half way through the holiday I realised I had started the wrong border!! I have started the Halloween Boo Club Double Flip instead of the Halloween Rules - well I am just going to have to do both now as I bought the patterns for the Halloween Rules - when I realised my mistake I ordered the first 3 Boo Club Patterns and they were waiting for me when I got home!!

Above you can see another Halloween LK piece that I started and am almost finished.

And here is yet another LK Halloween piece also nearly finished, this is LK Halloween Sampler.

Tea Party/Picnic Exchange

Here is what I sent Loretta in Canada, she received it end of last week, I am so pleased it arrived safely. Here it is all boxed up ready to go.

Above are two pieces of Silkweaver fabrics I sent her and below two charts from Drawn Thread

Below are some tiny cute serviettes and a tea towel.

Next some pretty fabrics with some of the backing cupcake fabric I used to back the ornie I made her.

Below is the ornie I made her and it is my own design pattern.

And here is all the goodies together, there is also my cupcake recipe and some cupcake ribbon.

Tea Party / Picnic Exchange - What I received

I received all these lovely goodies from Lynn in the US. Some fabulous buttons and cupcake patches.

Some great Cookie Cutters and a wonderful Cookie recipe which I have yet to try, but will be doing when I get back from my holiday.

This was the lovely stitched piece I received too and it now hangs in my kitchen, such a pretty piece you can see the wonderful cupcake fabric on the back too - how did she know I adore cupcakes!!!

Below you can see all the wonderful goodies I have received from Lynn she really did spoil me. She also send some lovely floral paper plates and matching serviettes. There is also a wonderful handmade doily which a lady she knows makes and they go all over the world, I love it and it is on my windowsil with other exchange goodies on display.

Thanks again Lynn, it was such a lovely packate to receive.

I have yet to hear that my package has arrived in Canada!!! The postal strike am hoping is the reason for the delay and not that it is lost!!! Fingers crossed!!

Posting Out - Dont look if you are expecting something!!!

This first one was a quick make, the photo is a bit dark as I took it in a hurry, this one is a keeper and for me

These two little penidbules are for my two PIF winners. I am not saying who is getting what and there will be a little extra something in the packages too. So I am keeping it a little bit mysterious. One is going to Russia and one staying in the UK

Below is a view of the backing fabric used for my two Christmas decorations. The red one is going to the US and white one is mine to keep. There will be a little something going with the red one too but I have to keep something secret.

And here is the front of both you have already seen the one on the left but I took the photos together and of course the one on the right is a Lizzie Kate and will be winging it's way across the pond to it's new home today.

I have started another Lizzie Kate last night, a Halloween theme and will be taking this with me on my holiday with another Lizzie Kate Halloween SAL. If I get time to stitch I will show my progress when I get back. We are taking a laptop with us and have a dongle so if when Bob goes on his marathon walks I have the time and inclination I may post something up there, but if not, well ................................. you will just have to wait and see when I get back.

We have my sons graduation for his MA on Thursday in Norwich, will be taking him, his fiancee and my daughter out for a meal Thursday night and then up at 4am to get up to Scotland and have a night in the Highlands before we drive off on to Skye to catch the ferry to the Outer Hebrides...............I just cannot wait.

Above is a wonderful design by Witchy Stitches which I just found and have ordered from 123 Stitch.

And of course we all know who designed this one, I adore this saying and am taking it to heart this week, we are going on holiday and I am getting the cleaners in while I am away, such a luxury!! (It's my sister-in-law and she is an absolute dream, and I pay her well!!)

They won't get here before we leave on Thursday morning but will be here to greet me when I get back.

My New Keepsake Box

I had this box commissioned for me by a lady that has a stall at Greenwich Market some time ago and it has been waiting for me to pick it up for some time. I told her my favourite colours and that I love whimsical cows and she designed this Keepsake Box for me. I absolutely adore it.

It was pay day yesterday and I have had my eye on one of these for some time, I have just bought it as a kit, so I have the fabric, beads and threads to make it. These are just so beautiful and it will make a lovely addition to my handmade Christmas Decs. I have a feeling I will start it as soon as I get it coz I just cant wait lololol. Anyone else got one and fancy doing a SAL with me, no rush just get it finished for Christmas?

Hi Everyone

My mojo got lost, but is found again thank goodness. I am just checking in quick, no piccies to show right now although I do have a finish...............but it was for an exchange and I have promised not to show until everyone has their packages and as mine was delayed as there was a postal strike it wont be for some time that I get to show you.

I also received my package for the exchange but again cannot show piccies yet........but I am a very very happy bunny.

I have joined this wonderful blog Lizzie Kate Lovers they have a wonderful SAL getting ready to start in August - I am going to do the Halloween one.

I am off on holiday at the end of the month but will do a Give Away when I come back, it's been so long since I did one. I am going to the Outer Hebrides for my holiday, it's our second visit, it is so beautiful up there.

Sponge Cake for the Boys

My hubby and step-son are tiling my new bathroom today and I thought this would help them along at their next tea break. They have already devoured Sausage Ciabatta Rolls and tonight I am cooking them Lasagne. Tomorrow hubby is doing a 30 mile walk for charity for MENCAP and food is laid on for them. I am taking part in the Cook Off at our local pub and this month it is Stuffed Peppers, will let you know how I get on. Monday the boys are finishing of the bathroom and I am cooking them Roast Chicken Stuffed with Black Pudding (you pit it under the skin) will take a piccy as it is the first time I am trying this recipe out.

Secret Stitching and Cup Cakes

One of my friends at work retired on Friday and I baked Vanilla Cupcakes. I was really pleased how they turned out and they were rather delicious. I had great fun making these and they went down a storm.

I have been doing quite a bit of stitching but unfortunately it is all SECRETS!! One thing I cannot show until I post and the recipient receives it. Another I cannot show for many many months and another one has to wait and be shown when everyone in the exchange has received.........so sorry everyone.

It was a lady at work's 60th birthday and I baked her a large cupcake!! It went down very well and was gone in a shot!!
